How do you hold youre longbows?
Hi,
as i really have no clue how to grip a LB with a locator grip, it just feels not riht no matter how i do it, could you please explain to me?
With all those Gringa (beautiful bows btw)shooters out there there ought to be someone who can tell me how its done.
The best thing would be a pic of youre bowhand in shooting position.
Please enlighten me!
Thanks

It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

No worries, Axel. Sparra, it has a shelf, and I get my hand as close to it as possible.

Re: How do you hold youre longbows?
Hello there,
Bit of a very late response to this post, but thought I would throw in a different opinion to help confuse things.
Both my bows are locator grip (the Fox Triple Crown a very deep locator grip). As you can see, I shoot more like a recurver with a high wrist and my knuckles at about 45 degrees. The principal behind this so I'm told is it helps get as much pressure at full draw aligned through bone (rather than having to hold with muscle). So, as you'll see from the pics, most of the pressure is going through the base of my thumb, rather than through the centre of my hand - which is how I used to shoot a few years back. Everyone to their own.

Re: How do you hold youre longbows?
pretty much the same as Andy. only grip with thumb and forefinger but use a bowsling.
I have an underchin anchor though. No locator by design but built up leather and tape to create a lip as close under the shelf as I can.

never complain....you did not have to wake up....every day is an extra bonus and costs nothing.
Re: How do you hold youre longbows?
Mine is a bit of a blend between Ben and Andy, but very loose on the grip even to the point of an open hand.
But I am talking about a long bow with absolutely no location indent where you are holding (straight flat handle)
