Re: mohawk longbow
I've bought and sold many bows over the years and it takes a very good bow to stick in my collection for much time. My one piece Mohawk is such a bow. Mine is a 64 inch 51# long bow that looks very much the same as the one pictured. I wouldn't be without it. They're a great bow.
So did you buy it Matt?

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Re: mohawk longbow
...I also have had many bows over the years including 2 or 3 Mohawks which proved to be very good bows!

Phill was kind enough to import and then later sell (at a very reasonable price) 2 of them on to me.
I've kept one of them Phill and it's such a sweet shooter I can't imagine ever selling it.

Re: mohawk longbow
It's just a little heavy for me Matt. I just sold off my Chekmate Crusader because it was getting too heavy at 56#.
This Mohawk is still a fairly short longbow at 62 inches. I wouldn't want to go much shorter personally. My Toelke Whip longbow is just 60 inches and I wish it was a bit longer.
It will make a great bow for somebody.

matt longbows are generally long mate.Hence the name. That is one of the shortest ive seen at 62"
I have not heard of a 58" longbow before.
Re: mohawk longbow
is it still for sale?
Re: mohawk longbow
Jeffro.. Have a look on the Leatherwall and Tradgang sites in the US as well as Three Rivers.Three Rivers sell a longbow called the Tomahawk takedown at 58",Mark Harvey of Tradbits has one which he has kindly let me put a few arrows thru. The Leatherwall site has some secondhand longbows for sale at the moment made by a company called JK Traditions the model is called the ,Kanati, and I looked at their website last night and they make longbows as short as 54" admittedly not takedowns, but they look very nice. Also Ron LaClair who you can see on the Masters of the Barebow DVD Vol1,he makes a longbow called the ,Shrew, at 54".And I have had four longbows myself over the years.

Re: mohawk longbow
how can they call anything under 64in a longbow does not compute.............Rod
Re: mohawk longbow
i thought i put this up to sell not have a debate over how long a longbow should or shouldn't be anyway its sold pending dollars
Re: mohawk longbow
Dont worry about it Ed Rod will argue over anything and as his bow making gets better he to will be able to make them a bit shorter. I find it much safer now days to just call them a bow and people can decide them selves what sort.
Cheers KIM
