Welcome to Ozbow :!: You might have a bit of trouble sending the longbow through the post. You see, they have a length limit. I don't know what the length limit actually is. All parcels that Australia Post carries must fit in a "ULD". A "Unit loading device" is the same size as a pallet. If you've seen a pallet of bricks, you know the size I mean.

I've posted 58 inches recurves in the past. I had several post offices refusing to accept my parcel because it was too long. I ended up putting it into the mail stream myself, bypassing the normal lodgement requirements. It fitted into a ULD but only just. I paid the postage.

I actually work for Australia Post. I'm the operations manager at a delivery centre, so I know a bit about it. Funny thing is, we receive huge parcels for delivery all the time, much bigger than any bow. They are ones posted by big businesses that have special arrangements.

I checked the prices of having a bow privately couriered though companies such as IPEC, they were fairly steep though. I have just received a bow from SA sent by Archery Mart. It was sent by IPEC and I was only charged something like $15 but I don't know what Archery Mart paid though.

I hope this helps rather than confuses you.

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Mick S Archery Mart are always using Ipec so may have an account with them so that could explain the cheaper freight.

Cost me $18 When I bought it in 2004, courier

Just sent the Bear to Adam in WA, cost me $14-60 Aust Post.

Thing is Carl, anything over a metre the PO, either won't or don't like to accept, Coach is/ has just been hav'n the problem now.

Having said this late last year, I sent a compound inside a case 43" long to Tas. they took it at the PO. Have also sent parcels @ 23kg, rule is 20kg, small town makes people closer & a bit more user friendly :D

Sorry for the dribble

Even more sorry, only just marked it as gone, so if your question related to interest in buying, it's gone

CASERO, sorry, not trying to fob you off, but mate I have tried, it is that small & shallow you gotta get it in the right light to even see it, but I know it's there. Also it would be academic as it is gone. :)

You'd be wrong pedro, or are you saying that to make sure I take a trad bow inspite of you, Mmmm tricky.

I feel I've taken a good share with the compound and its not quiet the challenge it usta be, Still bloody hard but up for some more. I didn' t take any tension off stace cause I didn't think of that but I will now that you mention it.

Adam
Said it mainly as a stir but did take mine down since they sat there for a year or two unused
I simply marked the bezel and turned down evenly each bolt then put a piece of tape in the bow with how many turns I had taken it down.( cause the memory ain't what she used to be )

Made it easy when I went to reused her as it came back to the same weight ,tiller as before
