Take down Recurve 60# @ 28

#1 Post by dan76 » Thu Aug 07, 2014 9:41 pm

Hi all, this bow is made by me (Buffalo Bows) and is new and offered with a one year warranty on materials and workmanship. I am selling this bow cheap as it has a cosmetic flaw in the limb which can be seen in the photos. The bow is 62" long and 60# @ 28, it is zebra and wenge with bamboo cores and double flared riser. I am letting it go for the bargain basement price of $500 plus shipping.

Dan

Verry nice mate and verry tempting

That mark in the glass looks like it is just a typical mark you get with Gorgon's Clear Bo-Tuff. It tends to show up more when darker woods are used.

That's right Jeff, unfortunately it happens from time to time. Thankfully it has no effect on the structural strength of the bow it's purely cosmetic.

100% right Dan!!!

It has been happening with the glass since the early 1990's and it isn't about to change I don't think.

Yep purely cosmetic but not easy to explain to potential customers. I've had it in couple bows over last few years. Apparently if the glass is wetted, held against a black ground and lifted to the light in a certain way it does pick up some flaws.Still after all these years Gordon's should be better at it rather than regressing. The worst is, no suitable alternative exists.

I have a Cascade Brushhawk longbow that has a few of those streaks in the limbs and I was getting a bit worried about them.
They are not anything to worry about you say?. My bow has black limbs and the streaks really stand out in a certain light.

Matt try running a fingernail across the streak and if there is no feedback in doing so then it will just be a streak [ blemish] and no cause for alarm at all. It seems even in this day of high tech the glass manufacturers can't get it 100% right.
