Starting a shop
Hey guys, I am starting up a stall within a shop and am looking to sell my wood and metal craft as well as raw materials. If any of you would like to have a permanent outlet for your gear/bows/knives/leatherwork etc send me a PM.
The whole shop will be made up of high end crafts people. Regards Steve

Good luck with your new venture Steve. It's inspiring to see someone with the determination and the confidence to back themselves.
I'll be sure to drop in, if I'm ever up the way.

Re: Starting a shop
not sure if the logistics would add up for me Steve, with courier costs, commission etc, but worth keeping in mind.

Hi Bob, keep it in mind. commission will be small and if you can do a few to send down it wont be to bad I reckon. Cheers Stevebigbob wrote:not sure if the logistics would add up for me Steve, with courier costs, commission etc, but worth keeping in mind.

Re: Starting a shop
thanks Steve, I will keep it in mind though I mainly build to order so I don't have to carry costs for any period of time. Occasionally I get one that badly misses weight for one reason or another and is then a stock item. I also do have another Archery outlet here interested in stocking mine as well so it might only be the occasional one that could make it down that way , but i really like your concept and hope it goes very well for you, and if I can possibly get one down that way iI'll be up for it.longbow steve wrote:Hi Bob, keep it in mind. commission will be small and if you can do a few to send down it wont be to bad I reckon. Hey Steve, good on you mate, sounds like a winner, I'll send a couple down if I can get on top of the orders that seam to be coming in pretty steadily at the moment,,,, but that will change I'm sure.
What weight range do you reckon? My guess would be 45-55 #.
Cheers, Rob.

Thanks Craig, Sue and Jeff.
Thanks Rob, It would be great to have a couple of your bows. Yeah that weight sounds pretty good. If I can't sell the stock bows to people they would be put in touch. It is more about them seeing the work that is out there close up.
Thanks for your support guys. Regards Steve

Re: Starting a shop
Hey Steve,
Happy to make some arrows up for you ( for your use). In fact I recall saying that I would quite some time ago. Don't need to see them through the shop though. I have enough on my plate with my own business. And the arrows I make are always a loss making exercise. About 30+ hours for a good set. Even at minimum wage that's about $500 - and that's without including materials.

Re: Starting a shop
Not wanting to rain on your parade Steve but just had a thought about a legal aspect. Years ago when I did a lot of artwork I had some of my paintings in a local shop, and only for a tip off could have lost them all as the shop went belly up owing monies. Some people lost their work as they were garnisheed by creditors. Please don't think I'm casting any doubt on your enterprise[ which I hope to support at some stage] but merely pointing out some possibilities should things not work out.Cheers Bob

Re: Starting a shop
Yep, got it all covered Bob, no creditors involved so no worries there. The only thing exhibitors need to be worried about is if there is a fire or theft any artwork is only covered for materials value by insurers.

Re: Starting a shop
Didn't know where Blackheath is till I just looked it up . Seems like a very nice spot to have an artisan's gallery. Hope it all goes really well for you Steve. Well done on getting it off the ground without creditors too, gives you a better than even starting chance not having to meet scheduled credit repayments. All the best with it mate.
