Bow Strings

#1 Post by Ian Turner » Wed Feb 20, 2013 1:23 pm

Hi,
Does anyone out there in Ozbow land make strings as I am after a couple of strings; flemish would be nice but 2 colour ordinary would do but they would have to be dacron or a material along those lines not dyneema or fast flite,
Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian

I reckon these guys would be a starting point. I have Robs and Nicks strings on my bows and Nick walked me through how to make a 3 splice flemish twist string, Coach I havent tried as Nick showed me all I need to know

Hi Little John,
I know I sound picky its just that I was advised that the 2 bows I want the strings for are not suited to materials; I was told to use dacron which is fair enough as they are older bows that don't have the reinforced tips that you need for FF and Dyneema I think its called.
Cheers

Hey there Ian
I understand. My bows use D97. So I don't have any use for Dacron meaning i would have to buy dacron to make a string.
Like the other guys have suggested. Your club or the above mentioned names would be a good start.

Have a quick look at the Poor Folks Bows tutorial on flemish strings. That is what I used to learn how to make them.

Mate I find them therapeutic to make in front of the TV of a night, if your not interested in making them give mark at Tradbits a shout he has em, makes em colours to suit two or three strand etc
If your not having fun, your doing it for all the wrong reasons
