A wedding (Warning pic heavy)
I thought I would post something a little different in the Photography forum. Our son Jay (Jeffrey Jnr) was married a few weekends ago to a lovely young lady named Taryn. They wanted no one else but me to do their wedding photography so I did and I must say it was very special to do so. A note for Grahame A; all photos taken with my new Canon 5DII that Jude bought me not long before the wedding. It sure is great using full frame again. Our oldest granddaughter Gracie was flower girl so I included a photo of her.

A few more. It was good to make use of some different lighting in a couple of these.

Hi Jeff
Great Photos.
I take it you like the new camera. Very "Schmick". You now carry a large number of Cards in your pocket and am about to get a computer with lots of processing power.
Still don't like weddings.

Re: A wedding (Warning pic heavy)
The computer was updated last Christmas when our other one died. Yep I use 8 gig cards now. I took 20.4 gig of photos as I was shooting RAW + jpeg. A RAW file averages 25mb. Yeah weddings can be stressful but fun at the same time.

Well-done, Jeff. A happy day, no doubt!
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

650 bet your trigger finger was sore .........................Rod
Re: A wedding (Warning pic heavy)
Morning Rod
The downside is that the photographer has to look at all of them, etc. and then there is the post processing. If you are covering a Sports event it is very easy to go past the 1000 mark in a day.
And since you keep all the files big external hard drives are the go and then there are the backups. (DVD's are not backups.) If you are doing at lot of photos you need to consider other backup solutions.
But it is not any worse than Photographers of old who had cabinets full of negatives - all of which was flammable.
That is quite normal. One of the corrolaries of the move to Digital is the number of photos that are shot.LB rod 55 wrote:650 bet your trigger finger was sore .........................Rod

Re: A wedding (Warning pic heavy)
Thanks for the encouraging comments once again fellas, it is appreciated. I enjoy taking photos and I was particularly pleased with how my lighting was with these. I can of course see things in some of the photos I would like to improve on but overall I am very happy with them. We learn as we go.
Grahame, you are right with regards back-up drives. I have three copies of my photos; one on the main computer and two on external hard drives. I had one of my external hard drives suddenly up and die a couple of weeks ago and that is why we should ALWAYS have back-ups. Post processing as you say is very time consuming but a neccessary part of shooting digital as you know. It is a huge learning curve.
Rod, That is the most photos I personally have ever taken at a wedding. My brother in-law used my back-up camera and only shot jpeg as he used it in Auto mode because he didn't know how to use it properly and he was really clicking away and took 1,350 shots. He has a good eye though and he did get some great shots as well. Yes, the new camera is great and I look forward to blowing up some of the photos as they should show a lot of detail.

Re: A wedding (Warning pic heavy)
Thank you cacciatore. You know, there was a young couple who came all the way from Italy just for the wedding. They were relatives of Taryn. Her maiden name was Dalpozzo. My son went with Taryn and her family and Grandfather to Italy two years ago for Christmas. Taryn's grandfather's brothers and sisters still live in Italy. They really enjoyed seeing the country and hope to go back again one day.
