Ozbow Photo Competition 27th January 2009! Entries HERE!

#1 Post by gundy » Tue Jan 27, 2009 7:11 pm

Well guys, its about time we had another photo competition...

Mark (Scrub Bull) from http://www.tradbits.com.au has kindly donated a leather back quiver as a prize! Thanks Mark!

The subject must include some kind of Traditional Archery item.
It can be as simple as a photo of your arrows, shooting at the range or a shot taken while out Bowhunting; it’s up to you.
An explanation about the photo wouldn’t hurt either.
The photo can be a favorite from years gone by or something taken recently, its up to you!
It can not be a winning photo from past entries.

Post your entries into this thread. CLOSING DATE is 27th Feb 2009.

Just quickly, please refrain from using Photo Bucket or other hosting sites. Feel free to upload your photo directly to the Ozbow server. This saves Ozbow a heap of bandwidth downloads and saves disk space. Now lets see those entries!

Good luck!

Heres the prize thanks to Mark (Scrub Bull) at http://www.tradbits.com.au

I dont see a scrub bull behind a partially finished back quiver made from african game. Where is the photo
Archery is a simple game, it's the mind that over complicates it.

How do we do that Guy? By file attachment? And is that just for this comp. or in general now? I thought the idea of using photobucket etc. was to save server space.

Yep, by file attachment mate.

Jeff may have to correct me, but I believe that increased traffic to/from hosting sites costs more bandwidth than direct upload & storage!

Buffalo bull that we took photographs and video of on our last Territory trip. Was about 60 metres out when he realised we were there, needless to say we backed out pretty soon after.

Here is one of my son Samuel on his first hunt. The quality is not the best as it was scanned but as you can see by the look on his face it's not nice missing shots at game...

Just love shooting carp!
This catch was from an old waterhole on private land in Latrobe Valley. (legal bow fishing as it is not part of the inland waterways or rivers)
I had an hour spare while visiting my parents and thought I would go and have a look at my old fishing hole.
The one in the front of the picture went a little over 3kg.

the things you see when you havent got a bow!!

Yaking down the Murray, the river wandered off into a billabong which we followed. About 1k in we came across billy goats gruff and their bridge. The billabong and river, formed a natural island for them. Up further was a house so Im glad the bow wasnt on board.

These photos were taken on my 8 year old son's first real hunting trip with me...previously he'd come along as my "spotter" and would wander the cane farm with me with UHF and Binos on his belt to help me spot hares and foxes.

On this particular day I'd allowed him to bring his bow and associated gear and he was all cammed ready to go hours before we were due to leave...

As soon as we were out of the car and ready to start our first stalk down one of the headlands - he asked, "Can I get some photos of us? I want to be able to show everyone what we do together..."

I'm so proud of him and his desire to spend time outdoors and his yearning to learn as much as he can about archery...from stalking and tracking to using the fox whistle.
The best trophies I can hope to acquire as a husband, father, friend or hunter are MEMORIES!
They will travel with me wherever life's path leads...
