#1 Post by Tuffcity » Tue Sep 18, 2007 10:26 am

A few shots from the BC coast last week. Was a little foggy offshore...

Humpback whale (tail portion :)):

Bears on the beach:

I was running out of light for the bear picture and had to use my knee as a tripod so not as crisp as it should be.

Great photos as usual RC. It would be great seeing those Killer Whales. It sure was a calm day on the water by the looks of those shots.

Those bears look like a couple of our wild pigs.

Sparra: pic's from a boat (the bear one I took from an old float we tied our boat to for the night). I was about 10-12 km offshore, except for the picture of the sealions on the rock. One of those rare days when the swell isn't 1-2 metres (or better).

Stick: well, they also get called "hair pigs" over here. :)

Coach: the amount of salmon out on that bank was amazing. Lots of krill in the water which meant lots of bait fish which brings the whales, sealions and bigger fish.

I lost a nice size Chinook salmon to a sealion out there. The fish was taking it's third run and about a 100 metres from the boat a big bull 'lion nailed it. If you have ever seen the TV documentaries where a great white hits a seal on the surface and clears the water it was similar to that. I got my plug and a fish head back...

Very nice! I kept looking for pods of killa's in the bay of Valdez a few weeks ago, during the Silver Run. Nothing.

Again, well done... and THANKS!
