Back from Africa (with more pics)
Spent 2 weeks at the beginning of April visiting my cousin in South Africa. Finally got some of my pic's sorted out so thought I'd share a couple.
Must go back...

Great photos Tuffcity.
You would almost expect to hear Tarzan yodeling in the background with those first two photos.
You've got some good close up shots of game there. Were they taken in some kind of reserve?
Finally, not that it really matters much, but did you score any game while you were over there?
Thanks for sharing with us.

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

RC,
As has already been said, great photos. It sure looks like it was a trip you won't forget anytime soon.
I love that photo of those warthogs. From the shot angle it looks like they must have walked up to you?
That waterfall shot is a great one!
Those cape buff are incredible animals and they are the one animal in Africa that would interest me most to take with a bow and arra - wouldn't mind a warthog also.
I think you better give us some details about the trip now - like did you do any hunting and did ya shoot anything? - please.

Stick, et al,
Of the animal pictures some pics were taken in Kruger Park (elephants, giraffe, rhino, hippo) and some were taken when I was out hunting. I only hunted for 2 days (probably the shortest "safari" on record LOL) with a work mate of my cuz's. The previous warthog shot I got by stealthing up on them until they figured out a bad thing was near by.
I missed an impala, passed on a warthog, and got busted at 10 metres by a kudo (the one in the pic), and had a brief stare down with a red hartebeest.
I only had to clear the thorn bush for a shot at the kudo but his spidey senses kicked in and he exploded out the bush.
Almost stepped on a puff adder and crunched my first scorpion.
Not a bad "taste" of the type of Africa I really want to experience again (minus the snake thing). Just have to get back before my cuz and her husband head back to N. America.

Jeff,
All the pictures were taken with a Sony cybershot, that little sucker is about 4 (?) years old but still puts up not bad pic's. Especially in manual mode. The hippo shot was also taken through the lens of a bino.
Buff pic's were from the park.
It was real thrill stalking totally new species of game. I tell you, most of the "food species" of game over there make North American species look like they're on ritalin. They are wired tight! I guess when you're on almost every carnivorous grocery list (from big snakes to lions) paranoia keeps you alive.
