Hi All.

This morning I visited a friend of mine and shot some archery. I also took a few photos of some birds in his frontyard.

I like the shot of the Kookaburra Grahame. There wouldn't be too many little birds around with those mongrel Butcher Birds about. :x

This was one of those events when I had no plans to take photos of birds. If I had I would have taken another camera and its lenses. However, overall it was a challenge to take the photos and the lighting was really hard - I was in deep shadow and as a result was backlight plus the birds were also in shadow. Next time I will go better prepared ..... and also I will try for some slow motions of the birds which has all of its own issues.

But still a great chance to learn a bit more.

The Butcher birds did not appear to be causing any issues with the other birds - everyone was getting along swimmingly.

Amazing the sort of shots you can get of birds that are used to people.

And here is something for those photo people who want to look at alternatives. http://www.dpreview.com/news/2013/12/16 ... photo-zoom

Challenging conditions for sure. I think most wildlife photography would be a challenge but birds especially.

As a photographer, I make a much better archer  We only have one of those little digital cameras, and I wanted to share these.
A pair of Striated Pardalote are building a nest in the bottom of one of my hanging pots just outside the sliding glass back door. They are fascinating to watch with all their comings and goings, doesn't help us get any work done, however it is wonderful for our demeanour.
These are only some of the wildlife inhabiting our 1/3 of acre block.

Excellent to see Sue. The good thing is they will usually come back to the same nest each year.
