Cowra

#1 Post by Stickbow Hunter » Sat Oct 05, 2013 12:23 pm

After Bethungra Dam we stayed a night in the show grounds at Cootamundra. I remember Coot well as we not only did our duty and voted there but I picked up a nice old Aussie camp oven which I am now in the process of cleaning up.

We then travelled further north and stayed at a road side stop in Cowra where the trucks like to get nice and cosy.

Cowra is a nice place and has quite a bit of history. The next morning we visited the site of the old POW camp and then headed further north.
Overlooking Cowra. We drove up that big scenic valley.

We continued on our way to Carcoar Dam and while going through one of the small towns we noticed we missed out on a prime piece of main street real estate.

Yeah mate. We heard a truck pull in and I said to Jude I wonder where it is and she looked out the van window and said just there. I reckon it must have just missed the back of our van when it was pulling in. :surprised:

Hi Jeff.

You are right in the middle of "Ben Hall" country. That whole area is extremely rich in "Gold Rush History". It is a area I like to visit because of the History and dread visiting due to the weather - it always seems to Hot or Freezing.

p.s. One of the great shows of Australian Television - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OWQyis_Xgg

Don't know Bob but there were some nice old building in the little place. I enjoy seeing all the different styles of building in the old towns.

A lot of history for sure and it was a little chilly by Queensland standards. We really enjoyed the drive up through there.
