Some very interesting old photos there Otis even for someone like me who has never been there. I noticed the folks up there made their Aussie fashion statements like the rest of us did. Always great to have old photos of places where we have lived and been.

wow Otis lot of memories there.I sort of fall in the middle of a lot of those. Some are even way before my time there. I remember the old supermarket at rocky point, and that dozer bogged might have been part of a comical procession of machinery owned by a contractor of the time name of Joe Iraqi. Seems one of his employers took his 4x4 out on the spoil ground dumped alongside the channel in the Embley R. chasing bait. He naturally went down to the axles, so went back to get some machinery to get it out. Can't remember the exact line up but it was some thing like a grader first , went down, loader to pull it out , went down, then the dozer. They got all the machinery out before the flood tide except the Tojo and the dozer. Tojo stayed there for some time with a hazard light on it for shipping, the dozer was extracted , dismantled , cleaned and flushed and trucked out to Brisbane for sale! Remember a kid fishing of the Evans Landing jetty and hooked a 48lb barra, which pulled him into the drink. Couple trawler guys got him and hauled him out still gripping the rod for grim death. Funny thing was I into bows even then but was such a fishing nut that i never went hunting in the two years i was there. Often saw big mobs when out chasing barra., used to joke to a fish mad bro in law back on the coast that in the drought the hogs were using the barra as stepping stones to cross the creeks.

Hi Otis.
Somewhere I have some B/W photos taken at the Anndoom Workshops - WABCO Trucks and the O&K Face Shovels plus other assorted stuff. Movie night at Evans Landing - those were the days. I may need to scan some stuff if I can find them.

great photo's Otis,
All of them well before my time but brings back fond memories of our couple years up there. It was hard to take working at Weipa Welding for Graham and Craig and looking out across to Grandma's wishing I was fishing. Those would have been the good old days mate, the pigs would have been thick back then I love Wiepa and look forward to getting back there every few years.
