Some of my photos from Cunnamulla 2012 - Part One
I only had a 17-40 mm lens on my camera and it is not intended for bird or wildlife photography but I tried a few shots anyway.
I took this shot of the roo from about ten metres. A pair of Mulga Parrots feeding outside the little cottage we were staying in. I had my camera out as I was taking some other photos when I saw this Major Mitchell Coockatoo flying toward me. I swung up and grabbed this shot. The first one is uncropped and the other is cropped in rather tight using Photoshop. There is a hole in the fibro of the cottage where we stayed and the last few years there has been a pair of Straited Pardalote nesting in it. It is close to the front door and they would fly in and out even if we were seated on the steps so long as we remained still. With the second photo I used Gary's Canon 5DII so I could crop in better. I have a soft spot for Shingleback lizards and we came across this bloke while out hunting. This second one came wandering into the cottage yard and I got Gary to take a couple of shots for me. One afternoon while hunting pigs I had this billy wander up to about 25-30 metres from me. It was very open with only grass between us and he was out of my effective shooting range. Since I had borrowed Gary's 70-300 mm lens for the day I thought I would try and grab a photo or two of him. I only had a small bush to try and hide my bulk but managed to get my camera out and get these two shots. I forgot to up the ISO for a better shutter speed so they show a little bit of movement but not too bad at this small size. Jeff

I don't know what it is with you guys, you all are out hunting together, but without a doubt have produced some the most interesting pictures and story lines, that have been seen for some time, thanks for the trip and enjoyment down your memory lane.

Magic photos, Jeff. Cheers!
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.
