Tiger at my Door

Arriving home from work today I was greeted by this young "Tiger" at my back door, although I am always pleased to see these animals it's not the right location for this type of visitor so I picked him up and headed to the bush
I took these few pics as I released this little beauty

I will be honest snakes do scare me.I have always wanted to have one as a pet but I think the fear runs too deep. Good too see you back mate long time no see.

Looks like he is about 3-4 ft long. Not really the type of critter you want at the back door.

He wouldn't be welcome around my place either. I also find it hard to see beauty in them. They certainly seem to be hefty lookin' snake.

My grandkids play in my yard and the little ones would most likely try to play with them,so if one was in my yard i'd treat them differently,i dont mind the whipsnakes and tree snake i have here though

Im with you rod. The carpet and tree snake are welcome but the black, brown and taipan get a different treatment

Some time ago I often caught snakes that intruded in my 'safety' zone, and being inherently stupid really had no idea what I was doing. I would grab them by the tail and if they started to 'climb' back toward me as they dangled, I would turn the tail 180 degrees which would rotate the snake back down.I would then carry said snake to release point, periodically rotating to keep the 'bitey' end down.Some time later I was at a Agricultural show and there was a snake handler there with a display and I engaged in conversation mentioning my behaviour with snakes I had handled. He wanted to shake my hand,'cause he hadnt met someone with that much luck with snakes. The long and the short of it was that some snakes would have had me before I even thought of turning them down. Dont pick em up these days.

Hey Axe I saw a heap of them near the river on the way into town there.Must be a lot of them around your area.

You did right to re-locate that fella I reckon, I'll do all I can to avoid having to deal with them permanently if I can, but on a rare occasion that's just not possible and I'm forced to do something I'd rather not. I find snakes very beautiful, and more than just a little misunderstood. I'll do my best to just let him go his own way. We see Roughscale & Keelbacks here pretty frequently in warmer months as we have Melaleuca wetlands adjoining our place. Most times I find they want no more to do with us than we do with them, anyway. I had one here in our flat a while back ( couldn't tell if it was a harmless Keelback, or the deadly Roughscale they look so much alike) & made every effort to persuade him to leave, but he wasn't having it and unfortunately, I had to take drastic measures to make sure my daughter and her friends were safe.
Really good to see you here again, Axe, & I hope you can drop in more frequently in future,mate!
