The Abbey 2011.
Morning All.
Had a fantastic weekend at the Abbey plus got to meet Kelly (Black Griffons), and Steve and Michele who were out from England and suffering in the cold of the Southern Qld winter. So just a few photos - and I mean few - as I was busy talking/shooting arrows for most of the weekend.
Steve Stratton punching holes through a plate armour Breastplate. That is a Yew Bow and note the 1/2" shafts he is shooting.
Steve and Michele Stratton.
Michele shooting in the Australian Forest - just keep mentioning Snakes, Centipedes, killer Goannas.
Kelly and Michele. Note the backing on Michele's bow.
Kelly and Michele shooting in the Forest.
Kelly shooting in the scrub. Had the aperture wide open and still could not blur the background enough, photoshop is going to be busy on some of these photos.
Kelly on the Range - check out the footed Medieval Arrow, don't see them that often.

Some great shots in that lot Grahame. I would imagine they were using just enough bow to subdue a killer goanna too.

Thanks Grahame..the pics are terrific. That Fox needs a new ear by the way. i like a challenge lol. Can you email them so i can get a couple framed?..Needs to go in the armoury.
what a weekend. The legend Steve Stratton was amazing and both he and michelle Barlow were kind and accomodating. I think yesterday was my most accurate and comfortable day shooting ever.

Nice to meet you though.

Hi Kelly.
Welcome aboard - thanks Jeff.
The Fox looked well shot by the end of the weekend. Will send you a bundle of photos - be warned they are big files. As for the arrow - it is probably Mark trying to buy it so he reverse engineer the secrets of it construction.
Yep it was great weekend.

Hi Nev (and Kelly).
Kelly means that the bow is light as in mass. Not light as draw.

Nice work Grahame,
with the sudden surge of interest in Warbow's of late, Warbow Australia has re-launched its website

Plenty of interest around so I thought I should put the word out

Re: The Abbey 2011.
Thanks for posting the website Morgan. Terrific photos Grahame. It took a year of planning but it was all worthwhile getting Steve and Michelle out. It has given new meaning and a real boost to war bow.
I have taken the path less trod and it has made all the difference
