Are these Pig trotters?
Hi All,
Couple of photo's of paw marks around a water hole in Central Victoria.
They look like two toes to me, could they be pig? Their might also be goats, but I've seen neither in many years.
Opinions welcome.

Re: Are these Pig trotters?
They would be deer, probably Fallow or Sambar.Pigs tracks will have the dew nail marks at the back of the front feet prints
in soft ground and mud.

Deer you say? I'd be a bit surprised, this is near the Cobaw State forest, which I think has been known for Pig and Goat, but I've not heard of deer.
I'll get some more photo's, and keep an eye out for droppings also.
I always assume most of it is Kangaroo. There are plenty of those about.
Thanks for the input guys.
Are the photo's clear enough?

Hard to say, note to self when doing this again, put something for scale in the frame.
Those are small leaves in the photos, so I'd guess about 50mm, but I can't be sure.

Can you enlarge and post the other prints that are closer to the water?

Well, I'm quite amazed to think there are deer there. Pigs and Goats I wouldn't be surprised, but I wouldn't have though deer. Might have to investigate these trail cam things, and see if I can get some pictures of the animals coming here to drink.
Thanks for the input guys, I'm very impressed.

Re: Are these Pig trotters?
Next time you are out there try to get some shots with a 10 cent coin in them. and try to get some shots from closer and with some light from the side. Photos are hard to interpret and having a lot of them or having some with angles to them that help people see details can be a big help.
Some Fallow deer pics for your reference
Sambar hind
Note the way the toes point in towards the top. In mud they can splay but you will still see that the inside edge is straight and the outside curves to meet it.

they are deer I reckon . Plenty of deer in and around the Cobaw state forest ... if you can see them between all the motorbikes !
