A pane of glass shoved in front of him would take that look off his face.

Was that taken with the fast frame rate camera Grahame?

Yes, however the frame rate was wound right down - 10fps. You do not need any more for most birds. I would have shot a better photo if I had used the Canon. It is not the camera it is the waiting that gets the good shots. That photo is the end result of about an hour and a half of work - and a stack of photos that were not much chop. Note also that I am above the bird - that is a challenge and also uncomfortable.

Do not know which species of Currawong it is.

Thanks for the info Grahame. Locking focus would be a challenge I would imagine. :D

Nice view of the spread wings.

Focus to manual, preset distance, small aperture. Camera is all set and all you have to do is squeeze the shutter release. Just like taking photos in the olden dayes before autofocus was common. Sounds easy - now if only the birds would co-operate.

You can see the wing tips blurring.

Yeah mate it may be like the old days but it still works. AI Focus (tracking) works good on the Canon's as well. Good photo Paul; it shows up the feather patterns well.
