Here she is. I'm pretty proud of how it's gone so far.
getting the final shape on the fades and sides and backing with linen today and building a tiller device of some sort.
Now, the tip!

Will a hardwood tip overlay be the best thing to do here?

toma,
i've just used hardwood on the tip overlays of a wood lam bow i've nearly finished. it doesn't look as flash as horn or antler but it works fine. i will post pics when its complete...if it makes it
what kind of wood is your bow?
good luck.

Otis,
I plan on using either Tassie blackwood or Jarrah.
What are you using?
The wood is Spotted gum. I didn't have a saw so used an arbortech fitting on thr angle grinder to carve the wood.

mine is a combination of stringybark and ironwood and there is some black wattle in the handle. the tip overlays are just off cuts from the stringy and ironwood laminations.

Nice. I was considering that too, but wanted some contrast in the tips.

my belly is ironwood which is brown and back is stringy which is red so i have then put an overlay of ironwood then stringy to get a slight contrast.

Just take it easy and I hope it goes well and is a shooter for you. Wood is fine for tip overlays.

I wouldn't like that wood combination to be unseen if it breaks though.

Slow day. Backed the bow with some linen.
Is this how it should look?
Also, what glue to use for nock overlays?

It's the photo. There are different shades of white for whatever reason.
Changed the profile of the bow; evened up the taper and made the tips final width.
Next, finalising the fades and adding the overlays.

Thanks LbRod. Say, do you know what glue would be best for hardwood overlays?

24 hr Araldite should work fine for gluing your tips on.
How about filling in your profile a little so we know where you're from at least. Also it is better if you upload your photos direct to the site and not via Photobucket or similar. There are a couple of reasons but one is if you deleted them from your photobucket account at a later date than your photos will no longer be on the site for others to learn from.
Lookin good so continue to keep us up to date with your progress.
