leatherwork pokerwork -darn it!

#1 Post by stringnstik » Thu Oct 23, 2008 2:52 pm

Wouldnt you know it,
I was just getting all hot under the collar looking fwd to doing some leatherwork, collecting ideas and patterns when I find out my old retired leatherwork mate has gone off on some retirees overseas holiday.. Who gives these old coots absence of leave. :(
I either wait till he gets back..whenever that is, months im told. Or buy the tools n leather myself and try and remember what he taught me.

I was going to try poker work(thats hot iron) I did some nice pieces on wood using that technique.
I think a lower setting would work fine on leather?

local leather supplies? I must be holding googles throat wrong cant find a local.
not even sure what type of leather to get apart from:
armguard soft for the skin layer and hard for the string.
quiver hard Im guessing.
Anyone down at southern tourney into leatherwork Ill pick ur brains..

info overload, but its ok Im still breathing.
"I am the arrow..the arrow is me...together as one...I fly to thee"
"the stick maybe crooked and the string hath no form,
then married by bowyer, transforms when first drawn"
"twang....thud"

If that Cranbourne is the Melbourne Cranbourne then Lefflers is the go:
http://www.leffler.com.au
They have everything you could possibly want in tools and supplies, they will send you a catalogue too.
