The stain is Walnut, applied with a piece of cloth.Jaydo wrote:what did you use for the stain on the shafts,
The capping was done with a spray can then finished of with a couple of coats or clear also from a spray canJaydo wrote:also what method did you use for the capping ?

Re: My First Attempt
you did yours pretty much exactly how i make my arrows, but i used a wipe on varnish, spray would work better i'd say
have you got an electric drill lying around, thats what ive been using for my cresting jig atm untill i get a bit more money. it doesnt give a 100 % professional job, but it works for me
its just clamped down to the bottom board, and opperated by using another clamp to put presser onto the trigger,
the cordless probably doesnt spin quick enough,
good luck with it, once you start making nice arrows its hard to stop

Re: My First Attempt
you did a very good job on them for your first attempt mate
Re: My First Attempt
Thanks Neil,. Can't appreciate them if it takes ten minutes to download! They're good looking arrows. I think most have us have a few 'sets of five' (or less) about. I was losing or breaking one a week using POC, bamboo is much tougher. Still got two out of two left after a month, not half as pretty though!
Re: My First Attempt
Great looking arrows for a first or tenth attempt for that matter, well done
Hmmmmmmm.............
Re: My First Attempt
GOOD ONYA NEIL THE FIRST OF MANY TO COME.

Justastik Arrow Craft, Its all about the Wood.
Re: My First Attempt
Nice arrows Neil.
I like the yellow and black combo.
Are you going to crest them?
Or leave em clean and mean.
I shoot all white fletches with white wraps on black carbons.
Not sure on the colour scheme for my wooden arrows yet. Got some time to decide. Still need to get the long bow started.

Re: My First Attempt
They look good Neil. Are they feathers or vanes?
Jaydo,
Try placing the point end of your shaft into the drill and have your support close to where you are going to do your cresting and I think you will find that you will get better result.
