I modified the form slightly and will be using thinner and narrower static tips; hopefully the recurved tip will assist in the performance department.

Bow # 1 viewtopic.php?f=34&t=17337

In bow # 2 the parallel bamboo core thickness is .155” and with .040” clear glass back and belly anticipated draw weight should be in the 35 to 40 pound range.

Static tips are of laminated bamboo with .080” clear glass on the back of the tips to accommodate the string nocks. Bleached bamboo was used for the back lamination and carbonized bamboo for the belly lamination.

The laminated handle is from a sample piece of gum floorboard, but I can’t recall which variety. An accent strip of bamboo was placed towards the back of the handle.

After final sanding the draw weight settled in at 30 ½ # @ 28” which was disappointing. Limb thickness on the first bow was.218” and the second bow .235” and yet the draw weights are within ½ # of each other.
The first bow had thin veneers of brigalow under .040” clear glass on a bamboo core. Both bows have a similar working limb length.

[Some of the photos taken with my phone were under poor lighting conditions in the workshop.]

Tip to string angle at my draw of 27” would indicate that the bow would be comfortable out to 30”.

The 33 inch 446 grain bamboo arrows were a little heavy [14.87 grain per pound] for the bows draw weight.

After a round of twenty targets at the club this morning stretch in the new dacron string resulted in the brace height lowering by about half a inch. I prefer to make a new string rather than putting heaps of twists in the string.

I have yet to ascertain if adding small string bridges will be advantageous.

Daryl.

That one looks better than the first one Daryl; the limbs look to have a good bend to them. As you say, with that string angle at your draw length, it would suit someone with a longer draw no worries. Nice work as usual too. :handgestures-thumbupright:
