Blackheart Sassafras & River Gum

#1 Post by greybeard » Wed Sep 14, 2022 2:20 pm

I had a request to make an Asiatic static tip bow.

The recipient is very happy with the finished bow, particularly the timber tone combination. The bleached bamboo back and carbonised bamboo belly are under clear glass.

River gum was used in the handle.

Because of the softer nature of the sassafras used in the siyahs, compressed hardwood laminate was used as inserts to accommodate the string nocks.

Overall it was a good outcome the bow drawing 40# at 28”.

Daryl.

Very nice, I like the wood in the handle.

Very nice Daryl. Have you got some more photos of it and one of it strung?

I would like to see a strung photo too. I love blackheart sassafras. The bow has a very subtle tone to it. The wood combination works very well. Very nice.👍

Unfortunately I was unable to get a photo of the bow at full draw [living by myself] and at the time it did not occur to me to take a photo of it at full draw on the tiller board.
As for braced I don’t think the brain was in gear at the time.
