Weighty issues
I've just built a longbow for a guy and it's come in a little under what I wanted. Is there an easy way way to increase the draw weight of a bow, I only need to go up about 8# or so. He has a long draw length so I didn't really want to cut down the length of the bow. Any suggestions?

Yeah your right Jeff I didn't want to hear that.
Re: Weighty issues
Jeff's right Dan, maybe a last resort but perhaps not practical would be to lay on another strip of glass. This however even with .030 glass would raise draw weight by a lot more than you're looking for.

Dan76,
Six questions -
1. Is the bow a glassed bow or wood?
2. How long is the bow?
3. What is the owner's draw length?
4. What is the bow's present draw weight?
5. How long is the handle section and
6. Is it rigid?

1: Glass
2: 64 inches
3: 30.5 inches
4: 55#
5: 18 inches
6: It's a hybrid style bow so it bends a little in the fades.

Dan76,
With that draw length and the length of the bow, it would be a bit too risky to shorten it to increase the weight. If the bow has
Your bow has barely 23 or 24 inches of working limb at each end, and unless the deflex from the handle is considerable, my guess is that you would be asking the bow to assume too much bending load for such short limbs without some kind of failure in the near future.
If the buyer can be encouraged to accept the bow as it is, the loss of performance would be minimal if the draw weight is around the 5lb mark under intended, but arguably, control of the bow will be better with the lower load on the shooter's muscles.
A question from me however - what on earth is a hybrid bow???? I have nevet been able to find a consistent description or picture of one. Everybody who owns or uses one seems to have a different concept of what that is. The term sounds to be indicative of something distinctly lacking in pedigree.

my suggestion is to leave well enough alone.come in a little under what I wanted
