Hi everyone, just thought I'd post this - fairly pleased for my first attempt. The toggles are ebony, made from reclaimed piano keys. The tooling took all of a few hours in front of the TV on friday night (although I think the resultant noise may have spoilt the show my partner was watching!). I had no leather dye, but ended up using the 'Edge Kote' I had for sealing the edges, over the whole surface. An application of dubbin over the top and it seems to have come up ok. I'll keep posting these as I make them - I've no-one else I know to give them to, but if anyone has a similar surplus of selfbow making materials of any type, maybe some trading can happen!!!

Congrats! That looks great and I really like the colour it has turned out. Very classy IMO.

For your first attempt you have done an excellent job, neat and clean.

Thanks very much for the positive comments everyone! Like I said, if any of you other 'crafties' would like one, give us a hoy. I'm looking forward to exploring this technique a bit, as well as the decorative possibilities the toggles present. I kept all of the ivory veneers from the same piano the ebony came from - laminated together into thick little billets it could be lovely to carve.
