Arrow-Fix
Morning All.
At the Archery Expo I had a look at the "Arrow-Fix" and decided that it would be "worth my while" to fork over the dollars to buy one,
Steve Wallace gave them a good "wrap" and needing to either repair an arrow or build a new set the decision was made.
So for people who have not seen them they are example fine precision engineering and are nice enough to make a stand and display on your desk. Mine looks great next to a few other precision engineered tool I own.
The piece of adivice I was given was to take things steady - don't rush it.

Re: Arrow-Fix
Very interesting alright. It obviously must have inserts to allow for different diameter shafts?

Re: Arrow-Fix
Hi All.
John wil probably take any coin of the realm - Spanish Reals, American Dollars, English Sovereigns, Imperial Marks, etc.
I note that John has answered you question - saves me looking for the receipt.
The tool is not cheap - but then again neither are neither are good quality arrows.
"The Bitterness of Poor Quality lingers much longer than the Sweetness of Low Price."
You can also it to produce "Footed Shafts" or to produce "Hardwood Nocks" a lot easier and faster than using the conventional process.
I would suggest that if you purchase one you do not use it for tapeing points even if is capable of being used for that function.

Re: Arrow-Fix
I think that price is certainly reasonable for the quality of the unit.

This is the same one that we bought of you a while back I believe, it's a good piece of kit, I am also interested in the power taper, I assume that it would be attached to a drill??jcm wrote:Price- $143.00 (includes GST) comes with the 11/32" adapter/socket

Re: Arrow-Fix
Hi Fraser,
Steve bought a couple of the 23/64 sockets and reamed them out for the larger sizes he needed.
At the Expo he was showing people, using our arrows that he had done, and he used Hoop Pine to fix my oregon footed purpleheart, so the fix really stands out (for demonstration purposes) and you could also tell that it had been reshot since fixing.
One thing to keep in mind, the manufacturer recommends no more than a 4" repair, which is more than sufficient as most breaks are beind the point or chunks taken out of the nock end.
Most importantly Take Your Time, too much braun will lead to tears in the replacement edge......... not a good look.
cheers

Re: Arrow-Fix
Thanks Sue, didn't realised you'd posted. At the moment I use 3/8 tas oak, 7/16 quandong, and the billets you sent me work out nicely to 7/16. Boring out a 23/64 socket to 3/8 obviously doesn't require the removell of much metal. Can the socket be safely bored out to 7/16?
