New String (with pics)

#1 Post by chewy_baillie » Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:23 pm

Just made up a new Flemish Twist String for the weekend shoot. Went for a 3 bundle even though i find them to be abit of a pain to get right. Worked out first time so i didnt have to untwist and start again
Hopefully this one will last as long as my previous one!

I also lowered the brace height by a 1/4 inch. Seems to be shooting a little better than what i had it set at before.

Hope to meet some of yas at the Gladdy Muster!

Cheers
Matty

Hey LB rod 55,
I have used D97 on this string ,but i have got a couple of Spools of Dacron i use sometimes.
Have a safe trip and will see you there. Its my 1st Muster and ive heard its a ton of fun. Just a shame i have to work Friday night, i might have a little trouble hitting anything on Sat

That string looks good Matty. Looking at the second photo, on the right side, it looks like the coloured bundles get out of order though. It is rather blurry out there but it does look like they change order.

It is too.... bugger.
I will see that everytime i shoot now
All good, will make sure i look at the order more carefully the next string i do.
How would that affect the string? It wouldn't affect the breaking pressure of the string would it?

Cheers

It never has on my strings.

If it happens to you again and you don't want to fix it you can adjust it so that you can serve over where the order changes and it won't bug you anymore.

Lookin' good Matty. Don't worry about the order thing mate, it should shoot fine so just enjoy shooting it. As Jeff has said to many of us in the past, it is a good chance to make another one for practice.

Thats good advice Jeff and Rodlong. Practice is key. I will keep that up for the next time.

Beaut string.
Getting out of order on a tri bundle is way too easy. Dont play ACDC whilst making strings ;) is my tip. gota concentrate :)
Anyway things like that make good icebreakers when meeting tradies:)
"I am the arrow..the arrow is me...together as one...I fly to thee"
"the stick maybe crooked and the string hath no form,
then married by bowyer, transforms when first drawn"
"twang....thud"
