A pro tip for when using a feather chopper
When using a feather chopper...
...make sure you get your fingers out of the way before the mallet comes down.

Re: A pro tip for when using a feather chopper
I'm lucky I only flattened it on the top of the chopper. Likely a tuft fracture and it hurts like buggery.LB rod 55 wrote:yow how much of the tip gone
I still finished the arrow though.

That reminds me of a story.LB rod 55 wrote:yow how much of the tip gone
I was checking out the local Mens Shed - a carpentry shed. I was chatting to the man in charge and he asked me "How do you know someone is a good carpenter?"
I didn't know. He then yelled out the question to the thirty odd men in the shed who all held up both their hands.
"They have ten fingers"
PS if you think tradies today swear, go to a mens shed...

I called in on Yowie today on my way back down home and guess who'll be holding up nine fingers next time that questions asked. Poor bloke is on some serious painkillers on Monday lost the first knuckle up on the left nose picker and a bit of a trim up on the left bird.
Hope your all healed up for the next Gringa shoot Keith.

Rich, I've done that trying to keep the lid of the chopper down firm until the mallet comes down, sometimes too slow....
I hope you have a quick recovery Keith.
Rod, your mate was probably only laughing the the variety of names you were calling the hammer, and not your misfortune?
It is strange how some of choose to spend our spare time working with machines that just want to eat our fingers. No risk, no reward, I guess.
