Me New Outfit

#1 Post by UPTHETOP » Tue Dec 15, 2009 10:22 am

Finally finished me shafts for me new bow and its pretty nice and pretty fast,

Bow- PLX two peace takedown 64'' 55lb@27'' Cocobolo ven/

Shafts- Easton Legacy's 2016's with 4x4 inch feathers and 160grn pionts a total of 550 grn
and they shoot like darts out to 20metres.

A set of Douglas Fir woods are half finished but they were just as fast when I bare tunned them.

Cheers Wayno

Maurizio no mate there proper wraps from Blackwidow.
Jeff and Bill dont worry Im really looking forward to the Douglas Firs I used the B/Widow wraps on them no paint, but they have brass pionts and stained Jarrah and the wood gran in them is something to see. There shafts are some of the best for wood I have used out of the packet spinned perfect all within 5 grns of each other and minimal amount to straiten them.
All up 560-565 grns each and for 12 arrows cant complain about that. Bare tunned them and all strait as cant wait.

The Douglas Fir makes a great shaft for sure and the grain does look good. I've hand planed more than a few of them to make into arras over the years.

Jeff a sneek preview of the shafts. The grain runs all the way to the end in most cases.

All those old oregan / Douglas fir doors [old growth timber] would make a lot of superb arrows. Do not use old floorboards or you might get a bit of a Furniture beetle [borer] problem.

Smick.
Love them.

Wayno,

They look great mate...!

I have never thought to put wraps on woods.... great idea.....!

I will have to give that one a go, It would certainly save a load of time....

Cheers Guy..
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is no where as important as being able to place it in the correct spot....!
