Turkey Feathers - WINNER Announced
Just came into a batch of natural barred turkey feathers 40 Left Wing, 6 Right Wing
Most around 10-12" long, some are a bit shorter, only need shaping (chopping) the quills have been cut and sanded ready to glue.
As this is not my "bag" I am prepared to give them to someone that can use them
With the permission of Admin (I hope)
Rather than first in stuff...those interested say so in this thread by 7pm Thursday of this week (6th) and I will have my lady draw out the winner and forward them the feathers

Good onya Axe! A very kind offer indeed, matey!:) Being brand new to arrow making (only 24 arrows so far!), I've only ever used pre-cut packaged feathers, I'd sure love to have a crack at the cutting and sanding etc that would go into using these. Should I be lucky enough to be awarded some, thank you, if not, goodonya anyway!

Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

Axe, what a gem you are.
I love and use those sort of feathers as my standard as 5 inch fletches.
But do not put me in the draw. I am ok for now. I would hate to get trampled in the rush...having said that....worth rushing for.
I am surprised that no one stopped rushing/running/gouging/elbowing long enough to ask the million dollar question........
Any chance that the well spring or source is repeatable?
Perhaps your supplier would be interested in selling raw feathers to all our brothers and sister trad shooters.

never complain....you did not have to wake up....every day is an extra bonus and costs nothing.
Sorry Kevin, these came from the US, but I do know a local that bumps off a heap of turkeys for Christmas...I'll see what I can arrangelongbowinfected wrote:I am surprised that no one stopped rushing/running/gouging/elbowing long enough to ask the million dollar question........

That would be great.
We could draw up a list of interested participants with the administrators permission and give it to your source. we could be contacted at harvest time and they could mail feathers out. i would be prepared to pay fifty cents or so a feather plus postage for 10 inch and seventy five cents for 12 inch feathers even if i had to trim and sand etc. the only limitation being that right hand and left hand feathers are kept separate. they could easily supplement their income. win for everyone.

I should let Steve tell the story, but by memory, not only did Steve chop the feathers backwards, ie, with the barbels pointing forwards, he actually made them up on arrows. I think they still shot alright though.

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

I had to laugh at your post Mick I remember when Steve showed the reverse fletch's at Leongatha's Trad shoot and I posted a Ha! Ha! later on. After a slight degree of social excitment several months ago I re'enacted the same routine on two shafts using loctite . Deja Vu... proving Bundy OP&Cola plus fletching do not mix.
