Something you don't see every day

Where to source materials etc. Also the place to show off your new bow or quiver etc.... Making things belongs in Traditional Crafts.

#1 Post by little arrows » Sat Feb 10, 2007 4:19 pm

Hi all,
I just thought I'd share this with everyone. There will be some happy campers when they all get their new arrows tomorrow morning. :D
Good thing we've got a ute.

If Little Arrows is driving they might be lucky to cover the fuel cost.
Don't get ambushed by the 'French' on your way down.

WOW.

You look to be using the brass bullet point tips. How are people finding them?

I've tried a dozen or so from 3 Rivers in the 11/32 125gr size. The inside of them isn't a taper but rather most of its length is parallel to the outer edge, so the fit isn't very positive on a "properly" tapered shaft. I have modified the trailing edge to ensure the lip is a lower profile than the rest of the body of the point so when I pull it out of a target it is less likey to catch up on something. I have also found that when they hit the ground they skip like all heck and can be found 70 metres past what I was shooting at. But they look really nice!

Mine are on the far left (red and white) and they shot super duperly today.
Shot a chunk out of one on the butts so im down to 11... GARGH!
Thanks Steve and Sue, you did a great job on them.

Sue

There's a lot of work there, that's for sure. :) I'll bet everyone one of them is almost perfect in every respect too.

I'm surprised there's only one lot of footed arrows there. I really like Steve's footed arrows. They would stand up to the wear and tear of general field shooting better too.

Mick
There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Hi Mick,
The footed ones have 'Greybeard' in the cresting and I have ordered six matching footed flu-flus' for our traditional shoot at Easter.
