I don't fully understand what you mean there Edward, but you can certainly get bamboo flooring here in Australia.

If I undersatnd your post correctly, you can also get it a LOT cheaper here too...

Where are you in Australia - or are you in New Zealand?

bamboo flooring

Edward,

I buy bamboo flooring boards direct from a Chinese importer here in Perth. I pay only $10-15 and they are 15mm thick, 1830mm x 93mm or 153mm wide. These boards are certainly much easier to manage than a full 2.4 x 1.8 sheet. I cut out strips using my bench saw 40mm wide, then split these on edge to get them to 6mm thick. After putting them through the planer using a tapering board, I have enough laminations to make up two-three bows.

Let us know if you can't find a supplier in NZ. I know Gilnockie has found a source in Tasmania. Whatever you do - make sure you get VERTICAL laminated boards, not HORIZONTAL/ while they look pretty, these will almost certainly fail.
