Hi all how does one figure ot if a string is FF or Dacron?
Also what are the benefits of FF over Dacron and does it make a real difference in the average 40# longbow or recurve?
Cheers
Ian

HI Ian,

The main difference is FF / Astroflight / Dyneema / dyna etc etc is slightly thinner than Dacron. If the string came with a new bow the manufacturer will probably be the best bet to check the website for info or ask the question directly, and same would apply of a private purchase, unless said person doesn't know then I would suggest refer to manufacturer......
clear as mud really ;)

cheers

Ian, one way to check the difference is to try and cut an end strand with scissors; the FF won't cut, or be very difficult to cut, but the Dacron can be cut relatively easy. I found with my glass composite longbows DynaFlight 97 gave an increase in arrow speed equal to a bow with a five pound heavier draw weight.

Hi Ian,

I am making some basic shoot off the knuckle longbows and Danish flat bows for the re-enactors.

Realistically I could get a better hourly pay rate working the checkout at my local supermarket.

Daryl.
