Re: Interpretation Of An Italian Renaissance Bow
Well not exactly..... have been meaning to have a crack at this style of bow for a year now. Finally got around to getting the form made at easter. Then chucked a few bits and pieces together for a trial run. And this is the result, first coat on and not even rubbed back yet. Still needs a few sanding touch ups but so far so good.
Bow is 60"NTN, 51#@28, has a Acacia back veneer and a Blackbutt belly veneer with a 16" Jarrah riser.
And it's called "Greybeard".
Cheers Muz

Looks good Muz, hopefully it will be a sweet shooting bow.
The veneer came up well under the clear glass.

Nice work and a nice looking bow Muz.
I'm interested in seeing as to how it looks at full draw if that is at all possible.
From standing pictures it looks as if the mid limbs would be fully working with a little bit of movement from the tips. ?
Cheers. Bill.

Muz, it would appear that you have had a successful outcome with the design.
I know little about carbon arrows and was wondering how many grains per pound of draw weight do the arrows represent?
Daryl.

Hi Greybeard, works out at 7gn/lb. I have the advantage of a 30" draw also. I'm happy with the design and limb performance. Normally shoot 10gn/# or higher but just giving her a hard time to see how she holds up. Will make another around the 40# mark once I try out a couple of other new forms.
