Setting up a takedown recurve case

#1 Post by rodlonq » Mon Jul 20, 2015 8:52 pm

So I bought this super heavy duty case at the surplus store cos I thought it would make an indestructible recurve bow case. The catch was that good quality foam to line it with cost more than the box... oh well. there is 12 mm foam under the 50 mm foam with the cutouts so the parts sit on foam.

Now I have my 19" riser and 2 sets of limbs for 62" bow in there, some bolts, an allen key, Selway stringer and a bow square (the bow square is just too long for my little tool kit so it had to be in there).

The question is, what other things do you fellas put in your bow cases?

I am thinking pointy/sharp things like my knife, broadheads and other objects (including the old timer from my belt) that may want to be loaded into cargo if I ever get the chance to fly to a hunting destination.

I am asking this question because I don't want to set it up only to realise I have forgot something really important.

Oh yer... the lid holds strings and 3 dozen arrows so it is almost a complete ready to hunt kit so far.

Rod, good work on the case.

Some other items; a couple of spare strings, fletching jig and tape, glue, broadhead sharpener, cigarette lighters, small pliers and a mini first aid kit.

Daryl.

Great work on the case Rod. I know what you mean about the foam infill, I just about fell over when I got the price for foam to do my daughters one piece case.
As far as things to put in it,,, I reckon Daryl pretty well covered it, any more than that and you'd have to put wheels on it ;) .

On the price of foam if you go to salvos / op-shops you can get high quality old boogie boards cheap. I've got a couple over the years and the good ones make excellent packing.

Good job Rod, very neat, compact and robust. Shouldn't get knocked about in that case that's for sure.
