A special bow for a special girl
My daughters twenty first birthday is coming up so thought I'd do a bow for her with a few extras. It's kept me busy for a few hours that's for sure and I'm yet to make the hard case and arrows to go with it but she's worth it.
Bow stats: Flatline Raptor, 58'' n-n, 36#@28".
Timbers:
Riser; Sandalwood, Silver Ash, Miva Mahogany/Red bean and Slvr Ash veneers, (the front of the riser is made of off cuts from several other riser blocks and has too many different woods to name).
Limbs: Back; Orange Boxwood, Belly; Silver Ash with Aust Ebony leaf and Red bean pin striping.
Overlays and inlays: Australian Ebony, Orange Boxwood, Silver Ash, Miva Mahogany/Red bean and Conkerberry.
Well there ya go, I'm happy with it .

Absolutely beautiful!
There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.
Re: A special bow for a special girl
How sweet is that, what a good looking bow.
I do like its shape, let alone all the wood working detail, heart and soul has been put into it.
Congratulations.

Beautiful work Rob. I shudder to think of the hours you have put into making this one. It surely is one of a kind and I'm sure it will be something very special that your daughter will always cherish.

All I have to say is "WOW". Your a freak. I'm a chippie like you Rob, I will have to do another apprenticeship to do that sort of work. You make me feel very humble. I would like to see the houses you build............. great work.
Re: A special bow for a special girl

WOW. That's special alright Rob. I think your daughter is going to realise you hold her in very high regard indeed. As far as bows go, surely you have played your trump card with that one.

Hi Rob, superb workmanship and an interesting variety of timbers.
Did your daughter have any input to the ornate designs or was the bow a 'secret' project?

Thanks again fellas.
Hey Daryl, it wasn't a secret but she left the design up to me,,,, and I can't help myself .
Making some progress on the case, I'll post a pic of the kit when it's finished.
Cheers, Rob.
Yeah Rod it may well be the best hand I'll come up with for a while,,,,,, but the game's still on .rodlonq wrote:surely you have played your trump card with that one.
Splashy. That's men's logic, research shows it only works 10-15% of the time when applied to the opposite sex .splashy wrote:I might show it to my wife in case she wants an upgrade....in which case I will be able to justify an upgrade.....there's logic there somewhere...

Thanks Jim.
Took a while but it's done just in time for my daughters arrival on the coming weekend.
The kit, including flight case, bow, a dozen arrows, glove, stringer and arm guard.
