Legality of requesting Osage seeds?

#1 Post by Nezwin » Fri Aug 15, 2014 3:57 pm

Given Osage is considered a 'pest', would it be illegal to request (offering payment, ofcourse) seeds from any members of this forum with access to a tree? I haven't been able to locate any Osage myself but would like to plant some around the property and, I'm assuming, the members of this forum may be best placed to know where Osage trees & their seeds are.

Not sure about legalities as you mention but if you pm 'swami' on here he might know the whereabouts of some established seedlings.

I bought seeds from Phoenix Seeds in tassie http://www.phoenixseeds.net.au/

All legal as they are not on the noxious weed list (for nsw, anyway)

Much appreciated, Gents. Give me a decade or two and I might have a little Osage to harvest...

'Swami' has some seedling in containers, over a year old, but you might have transport difficulty issues. could be worth giving him a pm.

Hi,

Yes I have about 20 seedlings that need a good home, they are currently dormant and I have just cut them back. Thorny little Bar Stools
They are related to Mulberry with a similar colourer root system.

If any one is interested let me know, asking a small fees per plant. Best to collect or could possibly post Bare rooted in QLD/nsw.

Interstate you would have to check your plant import regulations. WA is definitely out as they are another country when it comes to plants coming in.

Cheers Swami
