Bow swap.

#1 Post by bigbob » Wed Aug 06, 2014 4:17 pm

Apart from Ozbow I am a frequent visitor and contributor on some US trad sites.Last year and again this year I have entered the annual Trade bow run by one of the sites. The idea is one nominates what type of bow you will make eg; glass self, trilam 'curve etc. and what you might like in return. Last year some here would have seen the fabulous 'snake' bow made from a very bendy piece of Osage and backed with genuine rattler that I received. This year I had nearly forgotten I still had to receive one when a package arrived today. The following shots are of this year's bow a terrific little 3 piece 'curve. The riser is black walnut and wild Pecan, harvested by the bowyer from his own farm and the limbs are hackberry. It is 57''NTN and 43# at 28''It is very quiet and puts an arrow out there, with me shooting a little high for a while, but enjoying the experience.

it really has some fish hooks at the tips, copy of Sovereign Archery "ballistic' model, which unfortunately are not apparent in these shots.

thanks Kerry and Jeff. Yeah Jeff the wood in the riser was all felled off his own farm which sorta makes it even more special. At my 29'' draw it does just start to stack a little but entirely manageable and it does shunt an arrow.I feel a bit humbled especially with the cost of the shipping etc and he threw in limb and riser socks, and a bow stringer as well. Still very good people in the world and its seems a disproportionate amount are trad people.
