Heritage carbon arrows

Hi all, I know they aren't traditional but I was wondering if anyone here has used carbon fibre arrows such as these in a long bow?

What are the pros and cons?

A few of the guys around Melbourne are using carbons either 3Rivers Traditional or GT Traditionals. I personally have some GT Trads (blems from Big Jims archery)
Pros strong, even weight,light weight, blems very cost effective, consistant
Cons not wood, not Trad if you are wanting to go to a woods only shoot, if shooting ABA will put you in Modern Division and therefore on the red peg, where woods gets you on the Trad peg.
Dont smell or feel like woods.

If you lend them to some (no names mentioned tradbound) who shoot woods (ie what can be described as tree trunks), the lighter carbons nearly land in the pony club next door

Smug b*****r that David M, he shoots carbon knitting needles and a Italian recurve called a Spagettarelle (carbonara I think). Tomorrow he will be nice as pie (pizza) because I will be driving him to the club. haha

I use carbons for there consistency, thin diameter and ability to tune high FOC. I'm talking from a hunting perspective.

I've used Goldtip Tradiontals, not because of the wood grain look but due to fact that the 75/95 I use are .300" spine at 32" long. Where most of the .300" spine shafts are only 30" long and not suitable for my draw. I have just started using Widowmaker .250" spine shafts as their even thinner and use an outsert and are more affordable to achieve a high FOC.

Carbon fibre arrows fly just as good as any other arrow out of a longbow. If you experiment a little with wood, aluminium and aluminium/carbon arrows you will have a preference. But like any arrow they need to be tuned.
With the regards to the Pro's and Cons Trad Bound summed it up pretty well.

If you inhale with a deep enough breath you will be able to smell the carbon and relate it to trees. Just ensure when you do someone is standing by.........
