Absolutely nothing!

Tip to tip stringers are meant to prevent limb trist on recurves, it is not really needed for longbows.

The beauty of a long bow is they are pretty near maintenance free and very sturdy even to the point of withstanding limb twist

Just string the long bow through your legs the old fashioned way and all will be good.

I have never used a stringer with my bows (longbows) either.

Some people leave their bows strung all the time so long as they are stored out of high heat. I however alway unstring my bows at days end.

I'm probably gunna get shot down here but if its a glass backed bow it wouldnt be very critical. A self bow would be another matter all together.I would think only strung when being used, due to negating as much as possible string follow.

The stringer might be just a little bit long for the pockets to stay in place on your longbow. Do you stand on it only in the middle or with two feet on the stringer? One foot in the middle gives more angle to the stringer.

I use Stringers on all my Longbows, and I never leave them strung after a shoot, even if we only stop for a 15 minute break, I always unstring them, But that is just me. Cheers Roadie.

Try 1 foot in the middle it should change the angle of the stringer to the bow tip.

A bloke at my club (posts here sometimes - Andy Firth) showed me this method:

Good one Andy. Dean Torges uses that method throughout his instructional video and makes it look super easy, so I am guessing it is a sound method. I tried to do it on my composite longbows and couldn't get my top hand to slide up the limb once it was under load    ....... Will try a bit harder tho, it would be worth the effort. I personally would stay with a stringer for the recurve.

Cheers...... Rod

Do you use 1 foot to string your LB. Recurve 2 feet, LB 1 foot.
