A special new Gringa joins the tribe.
Recently I was talking to Ol' LBRod in P.M's and during the conversation we came around to the fact that Rod was due to make the 50th Gringa! Being the sort of mate he is, he offered me first refusal on it, and of course there was no refusal, I was taking it no matter what! I had already informed the big fella( just once or twice ) that I hold the opinion a Gringa using Hairy Oak in the riser would be mighty flash so he had a pretty good idea which timber he was using for that. Also, during the course of my advising him on the preference for Hairy Oak risers I had also included the info that antler as the face lam on nock tips looks the goods, too. So this is what he set about making for me the style he knows I most like shooting for the present, a 70" Hill style longbow, 64#@28". Well, as you can see the ol' buffalo didn't disappoint in any way, IT IS A BEAUTY!! I love the accent stripes in the riser, and the antler tips are exactly what I had imagined! The caramelized bamboo on the limbs is just perfect! The draw weight is a bit of a step up from my 57#@28" Gringa Hill style, but LB was kind enough to loan me another 62#er to build up to it. Have a close look at the riser and you'll see just how far Rods come since he first decided to have a go 4-5 years ago. The weird feature in the grain you'll see in the handle would have been ruined in a lesser bowyers hands. The Wenge and Bamboo really compliment both the Hairy Oak and the caramelized Bamboo limbs, and if you look really close you'll see how he has separated the Wenge and Hairy Oak with a tiny strip of the caramelized Bamboo As his skill level rise, so does the beauty of his risers, and the tips! Next time you see a Gringa in the wild, have a good close look (with the owners permission!! ) and you'll see what I mean.
Thanks ten million times, Rod. I can't tell you just how much I love this one! This bow stays with me until the grave , mate. Honestly, it seems each triumph of yours surpasses the last!
Anyways, feast your eyes on Milestone, the 50th Gringa!!

Re: A special new Gringa joins the tribe.
Yeah, thanks for the congrats everyone! As a few of you have said, now I have to blood it!
Hey Axel, you get y'self down here later in the year and you'll get to shoot a few with handles like that, I'm sure.
Kieth, yeah mate, N.G. took great pleasure in bring those sordid details to my attention, with pics! The guilty ones have been identified!
Thanks to Nutgrass for the pics. It was better to use his, he's way better than I am at photography and in any case, without his pics there would be no pics at all, I don't have a camera!.
Also, thanks for dropping it down when you blokes visited a couple of weeks ago...you can't ask for more than home delivery!
