G'day Folks,
some of you will be aware of the project several people from TBGA have been involved over the past 10 months or so. Well, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting very close now. Here's a bit of a run down for those Ozbowians who perhaps have not heard about the mag project around the traps.

There are a few nicknames in here that some may not recognise from TBGA. My apologies for this but rest assured nicknames will be changed in publication to protect the men behind the myths

To quote "Antarcher" from TBGA:
Firstly, below is the cover. It will still have more detail on it and the stated 150 pages is incorrect. The mag will infact be a whopping 200+ pages. This is the main reason why it is taking longer and I do apologise to all who got their articles in early for the delay. .



Now to the content, and this is the best part. The mag will have, in its final version, around 45 separate articles. Here is a list of those articles and the writers who have contributed to give you an idea of what it will contain.

There still may be a couple of very last minute entries, but that is the list as it stands at the moment. As I have stated before i am looking very forward to getting this thing out and I am sure that the presentation of the articles will do all the writers justice for the fine efforts.

That would be right - live in the big smoke cannot get a thing - live in the far flung reaches of the Empire and everything is available.

I intend to check if Abbey has any and if so I will grab one on the way to the range today - if no luck there I guess I will just get one sent up from Urban in Melbourne. At the current cost of petrol running around in the car soon chews up the cost of freight.

Just a tad peeved at the local newsagencies.

Well Grahame, there are some great advantages to not living in the the big smoke!

Well guess what turned up in the mail. Yep, the magazine.

As you may have noticed I gave up on the local Newsagents and got one from Melbourne. Yes, I know it seems strange but at the current cost of fuel plus wear and tear the cost of postage is soon offset.

My opinion - great little mag" and worth the dollars spent. Particulary impressed by the bow review - nice to see a review where the numbers speak for themselves. Also the type size means I don't need spec's to read it - most of the time. Faded backgrounds with type over have never rated high with me.

Something to read over the next few months.

i got mine yesterday not a bad read

Just realised there were two threads on this mag! I sat for three hours and read it cover to cover, will go back and read again. The best article for me was the one on taking kids hunting but enjoyed them all, noticed some folks from here too! Good work! Hopefully more self bow/trad content next year?

Yeah, next year's story from my end will be all or mostly trad, for sure. But, there were selfbows, recurves and longbows popping up throughout. I reckon it's an awesome magazine!

That's fair enough Grahame but I don't think that really applied to the first issue as the general public didn't really know about it. I think it would then have been the editor's job to source a good spread of content. Perhaps he tried without success but the fact remains there is little Trad content, for the size of the mag, with the current issue. Hopefully that will change with the next issue.

I would like to see more on "other stuff" , but I don't know. Perhaps the breakup is representative of the numbers shooting various type in Oz. My experience is still that magazines publish what they can get.

Ant tried to get more but wasn't able too. Many people were asked to contribute and there were quite a few who said they would but didn't get their stuff in on time. I think for a first effort the magazine is a roaring success and if Antonio's enthusiasm when he tells you of the plans for issue two are an indication of things to come then you can bet the mag will be not only bigger but better also

Agreed that this can happen for the next issue. For the first one the larger Trad community can't be blamed for the lack of content as they possibly wouldn't have known about it or been able to unless they knew Antonio or were a member of the TBGA.

Yeah it was/is a very well represented mag but I haven't read much of it yet. To me there just isn't much of interest for the Trad Bowhunter.

I don't know if anybody can truly appreciate how much effort has gone into this magazine and how much of a financial risk one person has taken to get it on the shelves. It's easy to say there is not enough of this or that but at the end of the day send in an article with the content that you would like to read and see how you go. This magazine was never a seceret, if it was then there would have been no articles in it. Antino worked with what he had and I think he and Luke did with the layout ect. have done a fantastic job. Support the magazine and buy it and send in articles for next year...Glenn...

I think if you read through the articles, you will find there is quite a bit of info that relates to trad hunting, the same as it relates to hunting with compounds.
There are quite a few articles that give you hints and tips on how to hunt different species, and I believe hunters can benefit from these tips regardless of what equipment they use.
I think they have done an awesome job, and set a new benchmark for Aussie bowhunting mags

An awesome job done by both Antonio and Luke with this magazine. there is about three or four articles in the magazine about recurves or long bows, and photos showing "stick bows" that were used on the particular hunts, As Glen stated, send in your story for the next issue, do a "Trad" story and send it in.

Once again well done to Antonio and Luke for getting this magazine out.

an execlent mag,
a hell of a lot of work goes into puting all that copy togeather and geting it to print!!

I know anything I say about this mag will be scoffed at , but , I will say it anyway
The Mag was/is basically a spin off from TBGA forum , so that limited it's content from the start , maybe thats why there is a lack of Trad content . Perhaps a lot more people could have been contacted to submit an article from different forums etc , then there would have been some different content , but as it stands , only the selected , were offered the chance to contribute Perhaps if the chance to contribute was offered throughout the whole bowhunting community, rather than just the site members , it would have had more varied content .
I would also like to see contributors rewarded for their efforts in making the Mag happen , as without them , there would be no mag . I also hope it doesnt become the same old stale stuff from the same old contributors , IE a MATES Mag .
Perhaps with input like this , as long as it is taken on board by the owners ,it may grow to be a Great mag
