Bear, I'm interested in this. Sorry to be a pain, but can you provide any more details?

i.e.

1) a pic?
2) price?
3) is this the exact name of the beast: pentax optio waterproof?
4) did you consider any other contenders first, and if so, why did you pick this one?

thanks in anticipation,

Erron

Gday Erron,
after looking there were NO other contenders for what I was after this camera was the only truly waterproof camera I could find and the name is "pentax optio WP" and more specs can be found at www.pentaximaging.com it's only waterproof to 1.5 m for 30 mins but I didn't want to dive with it, more for hunting and fishing and knowing that it wont be damaged by saltwater spray, rain, tramping through swamps etc. my cousin has one for fishing and it's a ripper takes good pics and is the size of a small mobile phone, cost $475

Sounds pretty good to me too. This model might just be the one I've been looking for.

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

The WPi, same as WP (5 m/pixel), has 6 megapixel, can be bought for $439 :D

yeh axe thats the newer one mate, when you purchase these cameras, pentax don't include the memory chip or the case either so try and bargain that into your price too! i got the 256mb which equates to around 160 pictures and was $80 and he give me the case but thats the price you pay up here in darwin, so probaly cheaper around the bigger metro area's just gotta shop around!

gday fellas,
Just realised that the camera I got is a wpi 6mp not the
wp 5mp which has been discontinued though you may still find them around  , though the girl at the shop didn't realise either and sold it for the old model price :D you beauty! saved around $80.
