Looking for a new pack?

#1 Post by Nephew » Wed Aug 10, 2011 3:11 pm

You could do worse than to consider one of these- http://www.platatac.com/-99-sale/plat-a ... 2_1322393/ as your new daypack. I just bought one and I was very pleased indeed with the service, and even more so with the product. The free bladder is a great "Source" 3 ltr model made in Israel
(which probably doesn't mean much, I've just never seen a "Made in Israel" tag before :) ) and the pack itself is a beauty! Everything has a place, plenty of pockets and the compression straps make it all nice and stealthy. All up, a great product I have no reservations in recommending.

Here's another at the same price- http://www.platatac.com/-99-sale/plat-a ... 3_1322393/ but just the basic hydration vest, no pockets, for those with size anxiety issues. ...

No, No, Fellas read the stats, it's only 15ltr capacity! Not much bigger than a standard camelbak, it just looks big in the photos 'cause it's full of packing. :)

Those Eberlestock packs are top shelf, Bear! I really like the "Tailhook". I checked out the "Mini Me" too and it's kinda similar to mine, yeah? Good size from what I can see.

Craig,

Can't have a look at work because the content filter blocks the site. They say it has something to do with terrorism. Your backpack doesn't come with a free AK-47 does it?

looks a nice pack for sure mate , like the outer pockets attached for the smaller bits and pieces to be thrown in , any chance of a pic of you wearing it to give an actual scale of size ?
If it is " made in Israel " probably more likely "liberated" from the palestinians and claimed as their own

Stevo, there would be one or two very nervous young hoodie wearing types here on Coochiemudlo if it did, mate!

Curve, will do my best tomorrow to take a decent pic or two. I wonder if it would have been Isreali had it been made pre 1967? :D

Bill they certainly have mate, but good to see you're still getting use out of your ol' workhorse! :D I certainly will take your advice and try to remember what I may need... just in case.

:D Wayno:  It was back in 1991 that a redesign was needed to meet the requirements of men and women that went over to the middle East after the first Bush invasion. So a very large number of these old packs were put up for sale. I was able to get a couple,. the only thing missing is a good Camel pack. But an old wine bladder packs in pretty well for that bit extra other in support of the hip water bottles. All in all; it does the job. 8)
