went to montana on the weekend

#1 Post by clinton miller » Fri Mar 20, 2009 12:02 pm

my wife and i went to montana on the weekend to meet some people who like me, frequent the tradgang site. jeff owns a small property up near lake koocanusa. he has his own little hunting practise course. it was great to meet some like minded people. we had a great time shooting. thanks jeff, for loaning me your longbow, since i'm without my recurve while it's getting fixed.

we saw some whitetail and mule deer on the drive to montana. they are to canada/USA what roos are to australia. they are everywhere. at least now, they're in their winter range.

muley. photo taken out of the car window.

you wouldn't believe it but we came across a bighorn ram. after hurried stalk i managed to make a kill shot. a true trophy of a lifetime. if you look close you'll see my arrow in the spot. i couldn't believe my luck! :D

here's his horns. he was huge!!!

only joking! ha ha :lol: this was some bighorn horns that were at a taxidermist i visited. gotcha. if i'd have shot a ram i'd be in jail now. :oops:

my wife roxy has just taken up shooting. i got a bow as a 'pass around' off tradgang. when we get some money together i'll buy her her own bow. till then we have this bow to use. when we're finished with it i'll send it to the next person who needs a kickstart. great idea.
anyway this was her 1st chance to have a shot. she did really well and had a blast.

this was our best target. all three of us made a kill shot. roxy was under pressure. she had to make the last shot. good to see it go in there

Your photos are always worth looking at, Clint. Thanks for showing them.
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

the bow is a thunderhorn coup stick 60" 54#@28" think that's short? check out a 54" shrew. that's compact.
