Wrong account number
Well today on TBGA I found a good cheap fletching Jig, I PMed the guy he sent me his account info, deposited the money online, came back home from work this arvo and found a message to say he gave me the wrong account number (this member is well known and not a dodge)
Called commonwealth bank and they said that there isn't much I can do, I could lodge a claim and they contact the other bank company and the other person to ask for the money back, This cost $50, seeing as I deposited $44 into the account it would be stupid to do this.
Do I have many options?
Also, if you do buy over the internet get the person on the other end to double check the info they have given you
Ahhh, I feel a bit better now,
Nathan

Re: Wrong account number
Nathan, The money should just bounce back into your account after a few days. The only way the money would have gone to the other account holder is if they shared the same name as your intended recipient.
It has happened to me, just check your account over the next few days. Steve

Re: Wrong account number
Yeah, that's right. It should be back in your account anyway. If you specified a name and account number. I assume you had to. If that is the case, and the names/numbers don't match up you should see it again.

Re: Wrong account number
Don't get discouraged with it mate, it's the easiest way to do things now. Stick at it, and just double check in future. Did you buy the Jig?

Re: Wrong account number
isn't it interesting that the bank wanted to charge you $50! They would have know that it would bounce back to you if the details weren't right yet they didn't tell you.
Rant about banks over now.
