Rudd Bonus

General discussions. Politics, scuttlebutt, whatever: you're getting married, changing jobs, got a gripe or a compliment, dying to get out with the bow etc.....

I had mine back in December so will sit and envy you lot this time around. I paid mine off the credit card just as that Turnbull bloke was whining about us all doing!

Then I spent it all again on things I needed very badly but simply couldn't afford otherwise, such car tyres, a s/h water pump and ... some Tradbits arrow shafts, AMSO feathers and some ribteks! Thanks Kev.

Can I have another one please?

Hopefully a lot here will spend it on Aussie MADE archery gear?

btw VISA then promptly offered me another $3500 credit as a thank you right as the 'crisis' hit home. Those IDIOTS just don't learn do they? Just wait until I see my death coming, I shall spend the LOT on ... well I shall leave that to your imagination but its not a fizzy drink, and go out SMILING.

ooooo bandsaw..... I keep telling myself "I dont need a bandsaw, I dont need a bandsaw"

the self therapy is not working
"I am the arrow..the arrow is me...together as one...I fly to thee"
"the stick maybe crooked and the string hath no form,
then married by bowyer, transforms when first drawn"
"twang....thud"

Put it into our house deposit and take advantage of the first homebuyers grant.

Good one Craig, I wish you lots of luck there, nothing like sharing a place with the banks! At least you can paint (or knock down) walls as you wish and feel like you are doing something good with planting a garden, building a shed and so on instead of just lining a landlord's pockets with spare cash. There's only a few weeks left though I think. Got anywhere in mind or are you building it yourself? I will come up and supervise
When I built this place I started marking a few square inches off every time I made a mortgage payment. I now own about half a small wall I think or maybe enough floor to sit my rocking chair on but I wouldn't swap it for a mansion!

I think I've already spent it, isn't that what credit cards are for.
So, I did my bit to prop up he economy by spending on my credit card, then now the economy can prop me up with a payment - which I can then go and prop up the economy by spending it - hey this sounds like fun. Now what should I buy............... :)

Yeah, been looking out around the Granite Belt area. Few places under $200000 :!: The main idea of this is to set Jasmine up with a bit of a head start in life. She's a smart kid, and uni will be even more expensive then. But your right, the idea of being able to dig a garden, build a target butt etc without having to convince a landlord first is mighty appealing! Got 'till the end of June, but I reckon they'll extend it anyway.

That's what I'm hoping. I wish we had four years up our sleeves, there is a type of home deposit high interest savings account that the Govt. will contribute up to $1500 a year to.

just quietly guys
and don't spread this round!
but there is also a payment to be made to us "sporting types"
if you belong to a registered sporting club and can proof it
you may be in line for a further $900.00 "one off" grant for the purchase of sporting goods!
this is more than just "strong" speculation, according to my accountant!
ANYONE ELSE HEARD THIS ONE!

Hue

sorry guys, did i hear someone say they were going to buy a house for around $200.000? that wouldn't buy an outhouse round Blackburn. my Daughter is looking feverishly!

Wow Hue, I know of another that can be taken advantage of and that is roof insulation, Either 100% paid for or heavily subsidised. My mother is having it installed as we speak. Steve

Buy Aussie made to support a local manufacturers or use it to help reduce your debt level.

I think 'Kevin 747' has lost the plot.

If the money is spent on overseas produced goods that's where the money goes 'overseas'.

It may help some sales staff in the retail outlets to keep their job a little longer but it is of little comfort to the local manufacturer.

Look around your house, how many items that require electricity to run them were made in Australia?

As to the payout I do not officially exist, my last tax return was for 2006/2007. When trying to finalise my tax situation the Tax Department advised me that I did not fit any of their criteria so don't bother putting in a tax return.

If I had known what the chain of events were to be I could have put in a dummy return for 2007/2008 and qualified for the payment.

Had I put in the return covering 2007/2008 and then at some stage died the money would be paid to a 'dead person'.

Dead people can't spend money, but it comes in handy when you are alive.
