new job - at........longreach!!!

General discussions. Politics, scuttlebutt, whatever: you're getting married, changing jobs, got a gripe or a compliment, dying to get out with the bow etc.....

Good move goint to Longreach Brian. I have hunted Longreach since 1973. Had one of my very first bowhunts up there just south of town. There are lots of goats north of Longreach, there is a big jump-up there, if you cross the river and turn right and head north for around 30 k's you will see the jump-up on your left, you wont have any trouble getting access and there are some really good boars to be shot up on the jump-ups, you have to be quick to get them though as they tend to move through quickly. When the nannies are dropping the kids the boars will get up there after them.
The hunting will be fantastic after the floods, there will be pigs every where...Glenn...

Now worries Brian, I will give you some properties to go to. Up on ther jump-ups at Longreach there are lot of aborigional carvings in the sandstone and under a lot of the trees on the jump-ups there are knapping sites all over the place where aborigionals carried the rock up to knapp tools and spear heads, plenty to see and do up in that area...Glenn...

Rod the crabs are green and look a lot like a mud crad without the oversized claws. Most of the time they live in burrows but after the rain you will see them. I have mainly seen them on the blacksoil plains adjacent to the channels. A big one would be 50mm across the shell. I saw hundreds of them once at night on a full moon when I was walking back to the car after being bushed for several hours down in the channels...Glenn...

You get some funny looks when you tell people about freshwater crabs, they think you are pulling their leg. I have seen pink fish with no eyes pumped out of bores, you would wonder how they could live in that hot water...Glenn...

You can buy those little crabs at the local pet shop here in Toowoomba so I know they exist but Glenn had told me about them and we searched everwhere for some but could not find any. :D Its a standing joke now.
