Shipping once piece longbows within Australia

#1 Post by Mike-dy » Tue May 13, 2008 4:32 pm

Hi Guys,
What's the best way to ship a longbow in Australia as Australia post won't take parcels over 105cm?
Don't need to know how to pack it, just some recommendations for interstate shipping.
If it was going O'seas I'd use Fedex.
Cheers,
Mike

Mike I have sent a longbow from Vic to Qld using TNT couriers and it cost me about $45, plus insurance.. delivered in 2 days.

G'day Mike,
we use Startrack express for our longbows and they have been good so far. TNT have broken several of our bows in transit, and these were packed in PVC pipe!
Startrack express's rates are pretty good. Even so I highly recommend getting insurance on the parcel just in case. for the small amount it costs it is worth it for your customer.

Hi Mike,

Check out the web sites of some of the couriers.
Some of them have a prepaid coupon system that will save money. I recently purchased a book of ten coupons from Fastway Couriers. Although in excess of my requirements at present they are valid for two years. It should cut the freight cost by over 50%. As a bonus they offer a free pickup. Hopefully I will sell a few bows to use them up.

Mike

I've used the Greyhound Bus Freight service in the past. It's quite cheap at around $15 for a longbow to be sent to most places in Australia. The negative aspects are, it has to be taken to the Greyhound depot and it must be picked up from the Greyhound depot when it gets to where it's going.

Try Australian Air Express as well. A prepaid docket is the way to go.

Holy cows! How do you break a pvc pipe? They must have really been throwing it around.

TNT wanted $80.00 to send a Longbow from Batemans Bay to Towoomba.I-Pec did it for $40.00....This whole postage issue is one reason I now only buy takedown bows...
