I'm shocked by this. I didn't even know that Bill was sick.

I never met the man, but I felt as though I knew him through his writings. We're all the much poorer with Bill's passing.

My sincere and deep condolences to Bill's family and friends.

My Gradmother once told me you can count your life's true friends on one hand and stll have fingers left spare.

Bill was one of those that was on that hand.

See you later mate.

I had spoken to Bill many times, I only ever shot with Bill once, down here at Macalister years ago - I totally enjoyed his character and company in that short time over those few days.

Bill was one of a kind and the community has lost a great man.

Our condolences to family and friends.

I was horrified to hear Bill had lost his battle with cancer. I met him a few times over the years and had the pleasure of hunting with him just last year. A true gentleman and some one who just loved to be out in the bush. Hunting with Bill made you a better hunter and is an experience I will always remember.

It could be said they are big boots to fill but anyone who hunted with him will know you always end up in your socks or barefoot.

My deepest sympathies to Linda and James and those who could truly call him their mate.

Thats so sad to hear, Ive read much about him. Just last night I was looking through an old copy of BHDU and read an article about him and wondered how he was doing, seeing as Cashy said he wasnt doing too well in the latest edition. Its certainly a loss for all.

I am very fortunate I have met Bill and quickly realized he is a genuine legend and a person who had time for anyone with the passion that he shared. I know I will certainly miss him and our thoughts are with you Linda and family and to all his great mates.

I know one day I will get to share a hunt with Bill.

Goodbye Bill and Thank you!

Can't really express my sadness on hearing this. Just pulled Bill's book "Born to the Bow" off the shelf. He took the time to inscribe it, thank us all for Ozbow, and include a hand-written personal letter to me. I'd never met him, that was just the sort of bloke he was. I looked forward to Bill's posts with relish. He will be sadly missed; my heartfelt condolences to family and friends..

A very sad loss to the archery community,

Bill is a member of TAA. One of our first members. All I had to tell him was that we are trying to support and help traditional archers throughout Australia. He said, where do I sign up. We had a few talks over the the phone and sat up chatting via e-mail more than once.

I was hoping to meet Bill and go for a hunt! I will have to wait till we meet in the happy hunting grounds!

We will have a small reminder of Bill at the start of Hawkesbury Field Archers shoot on Saturday 1st September. "The Barebow Challenge". We will have a formal loose of arrows for Bill and some other mates that are no longer with us.

On behalf of TAA, our thoughts are with Bills family.

Lest we forget. Goodbye mate.
